OWL BE YOUR VALENTINEOWL bet all your Valentines will love this special treat! It’s another sweet idea, complete with candy! You can change up the sentiments and candies for any special day or holiday! And, you know that is what I LOVE about JustRite, the capability to personalize and accommodate all your stamping needs! Let’s get started with the details!
I found a bag of Valentine sour ball candies when I was visiting Michaels! I could get three cello bags from the one purchased bag to make a nice treat, not too much but just enough! After filling cello bag, I folded down top twice and stapled to hold closed. This provided a sturdy edge to attach inside the topper after in was scored and folded.
My main topper piece measures 3 x 5”. I centered one end of the topper into a Martha Stewart border punch and punched one end and only once with this punch.
Taking scissors, I snipped the cardstock from the punched out space to the edge of the side. Then I corner rounded the corners with the punch shown in photo. Next, I scored the topper at 2”and punched out a scalloped circle for each owl.
To create the ears, a half inch circle punch was used. Follow photo for placement of punch. Do this on each side of bag topper.
Use the crop a dile to punch small holes into white cardstock. Taking a ¾”circle punch, place punched hole in center and punch out ¾” circle to create a little white ring. Make two of these for each owl.
Take the one inch circle punch for three grey circles per owl. Cut one in half for eyelids. On the straight edge of each half, use a dauber or sponge to shade, and then make tiny cuts with scissors to create a fringe. Cut a punched white circle into sixths, using one sixth for each owl’s beak. In the middle of the gray circle, use a black marker to create a large dot. This is what will show through when you place the white ring on the grey circle. Affix to topper; beak, gray circles, white rings, then pop up the eyelids with foam dots.
I chose to give each owl an earring! After deciding what I wanted each earring to say, I got out my Brayton 25pt font and created my words. A punch on the fold of the topper and a punch in the sentiment edge provide the placement for a jump ring or a link to hang the sentiment earring! The topper is now complete and can be taped onto the cello bag. I used tacky redline double sided tape for this. I also chose to create a base for each Owl, so it could sit up for presentation. The base measurements will be dependent on how much and what kind of candy you place in bag…After you have the bag filled, measure out the cardstock and score each side to the height you want, fold up and tape.
Using my Brayon 25pt. font again, I created a Happy Valentine’s Day banner for each base! I think this really finishes off the presentation nicely!
I love candy treats, and this particular project is one of my favorites…each owl has its own little personality! Just simply the different colors of papers, placement of the eyes, and that cute white beak give each one their own individual look! I decided to place my letters, U, R, A, in the inside for this card.
Have you guessed the play on letters and words yet? How simple is “U R A Lifesaver” for a special thank you card? The beginning steps of creating this card is the same as the card above. The main differences is; punched letters are on card front, added button on flower, no ribbon wrapping card front, and adhesive pearls on right hand side of cardstock band. I love the sparkle to this paper!
I also placed the letters on this card front. And wrapped the satin ribbon around card front and tied it off as the flower center. Take a peek at the photo below to see how simple it is to accomplish this! 
When I want to incorporate ribbon into my flower embellishment, I simply punch two holes in the center. Just like a two hole button. I bring up both ribbon ends through the holes and tie the ribbon, snug enough to hold, but not too tight to bend the cardstock! I love this look and have been using it often lately! I add a glue dot under the flower to hold in place.
This particular package has three 3½” x 5” pockets, they are reusable with the photo sliding in or out from both sides. I chose horizontal pictures, but vertical pictures work just as well. The entire back is magnetic. I always wonder how strong magnets are on various products, and am reluctant to purchase them because they might not hold. But I took a chance and have to say this creates a strong magnetic bond, even with the added embellishments. That’s a good thing!
I used two separate approaches for the stamping. Choosing to create my own sentiment, Forever Friends on one of the pockets I got out my 
One of my favorite things to do is using various sized fonts and changing up the letters of words I am spelling. This is exactly what I did for the words: FOREVER FRIENDS. The first letter of the words uses the 
I started out by cutting my base colored cardstock, SU orchid opulence and PTI ripe avocado. Each 8 ½” x 11” sheet is cut into four 4 ¼” x 5 ½” pieces. The white PTI cardstock is cut into 4” x 5 ¼ pieces.
For stamping, I used two JustRite products, 
The belly band is 1” in width with a strip of patterned paper to pick up the orchid color! I layered three flowers, punched two holes with my Crop a Dile so I could easily thread the ribbon and tie it off for the flower center.
I couldn’t leave without showing you this additional note, card where I was experimenting with several colors of Copics. I LOVE how this turned out, so colorful and like a stain glass effect of sorts. I definitely will be making more of these! I attached this note to Papertreyink Raspberry Fizz cardstock. MEMORY CAPSULE
Lid - I lined the lid top with the flip side of my Cosmo paper, to match the top and bottom outer edging of the can. My Circle Stamper II, complete with star designer border and “enjoy” center was used to stamp once with red and once with yellow ink onto cream cardstock. I die cut, embossed, and popped the outer circle, added two round punched layers with the yellow circle popped with foam tape.
Inside - Bookmark style paper strips, 1 ½ x 5” will be used to jot down simple items such as: a favorite book, toy, the headline news of the day, etc. And, just as important, adding the DATE to the bottom of each paper strip. So often when my girls were little, I failed to do this, thinking I would always remember and jot down that special memory and date later. The word DATE is 
Match boxes – What terrific little holders that easily fit inside the memory capsule! I used every inch of the Cosmo paper and covered the outer slider, and box ends. The matching adhesive die cuts make these adorable, simple, and oh, so quick. Again, stamping in
