Coffee Lover's Hamper- Day 3 Kathy Jones

Today Kathy has a great Holiday Gift Idea using our Just A Little Caffeine Stamp Set.
and a great Aussie Recipe for you to try.

Hello and welcome back to my next project for the week! Today’s project is for all the coffee lovers out there. I actually have a confession to make --- I don’t drink coffee at all!

I am however; married to a coffee addict and know many people who love it as well, so I decided to make a coffee hamper featuring some coasters! I bought theses round chipboard shapes made by Kaisercraft at my local hardware store of all places and painted them in Antique White paint.
Then I stamped four of the centers and borders from Just A Little Caffeine Set in chocolate ink and lightly coloured parts of them and cut them out using the Large Circle Spellbinders set. I then cut out some chocolate scallop circles to mat them with and glued them to the coasters. I used some spray varnish to seal and protect each coaster, giving each a couple of coats. To finish the hamper I added a bit of calico, some Gloria Jeans coffee, a one cup plunger and some Anzac Biscuits (Cookies in Australia are called Biscuits) tied with some brown satin ribbon.

Recipe for ANZAC Biscuits

Ingredients –
1 cup plain flour
1 cup rolled oats
¾ cup coconut
¾ cup sugar
140g butter (4.9oz)
3 teaspoons Golden Syrup (made from cane sugar has a smooth buttery flavour compared to Maple Syrup)
3 tablespoons boiling water
1 teaspoon baking soda

Method –
Sift flour into a bowl.
Add rolled oats, coconut and sugar.
Melt butter in saucepan, add syrup and water.
Add baking soda, allow to foam and pour immediately into dry ingredients.
Mix well then take small pieces of mixture and press out thinly on greased trays, allowing space for each to spread.
Bake in a slow oven as they burn easily.

(note – these are a firm, chewy biscuit/cookie)

Stamps – Just A Little Caffeine
Paper – Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip
Ink – Chocolate Chip
Accessories – Kaisercraft Circle Coasters, Large Circle and Scallop Circle Nestabilities, Markers, Blender Pen, Spray Varnish, Glue.

Hope you enjoyed today’s project and pop by tomorrow for something for the little girls in your life!!

Hugs

Did you really say that you bought those round chipboard shapes made by Kaisercraft at your local hardware store? My local hardware store is great, but they never have anything like that. Someone should market that idea - a Hardware Store/Craft Store. Just think, husbands and wives could shop together and both be happy. That might save a lot of marriages!

I love this project. I cannot believe you found the coasters at your hardware store. Can you tell us what section they were in. I will check to see if I can find them. I love this stamp set. Thanks for sharing and I will certainly check back tomorrow to see what you do.

Oh wow Kathy. How brilliant. I've seen coaster kits by Kaisercraft, these have the coasters and a holder for them to sit in. I love how you've decorated those coasters.
